Why Ceres

When you’re facing a serious illness, being well-nourished is very important. Ceres delivers 100% organic meals designed to support you when your health and appetite are compromised. Eating enough healthy food when you’re ill can help… 

  • reduce time spent in the hospital. 

  • increase the effectiveness of medications. 

  • improve overall quality of life. 

Our  menu  is plant-based, and modeled after the DASH  diet, which is an evidence-based approach to preventing and controlling high blood pressure (hypertension).    

What We Provide*  

  • Medically tailored meals to meet the nutritional needs of people with chronic and acute illnesses such as diabetes,  hypertension,  coronary  artery  disease, congestive heart  failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and more.  

  • Bilingual staff to assist Spanish speakers. 

  • 7-21 healthy, beautiful,  delicious and home-delivered  meals per week, and up to 24 weeks of meals.  

  • Free  or low cost meals, depending on your income level.   

  • Service includes family members and/or caregivers.  

*Ceres does not operate allergen free kitchens. While we can accommodate some food preferences, we cannot serve anyone with a severe food allergy.

How to Get Meals

  1. Call (707) 829-5833 Ext. 201 or email clientcareteam@ceresproject.org. Spanish-speaking clients can reach us at at Ext. 203.

  2. We’ll call you back within 48 hours (Mon-Fri) and finalize signing you up for our meal program if you are qualified. Eligible clients receive meals within one week. We look forward to serving you!

 

Qualifications*

In order to qualify, you or your loved one must be…

  • Living in Marin or Sonoma Counties.

  • Dealing with an acute or chronic health challenge such as cancer, congestive heart failure or diabetes.

  • Lacking money, resources or caregiver support to prepare appropriate meals.

  • Not receiving hospice care; not on dialysis; not diagnosed with celiac disease.

  • Stably housed and able to refrigerate and reheat meals.

  • and can be of any age!

*If you are not in Sonoma or Marin counties, you may get meals through our Affiliate Partner Network.

Dietary Needs

While we cannot meet every special dietary need, we can accommodate intolerances to wheat/gluten, dairy, nuts, seeds, legumes, soy, grains, eggs and animal proteins such as fish, beef, and poultry. We are not able to serve those with celiac disease or anyone with a severe allergy to a specific food.

Plain & Simple option

For complicated dietary needs, we offer the Plain & Simple option, which provides plain baked proteins like chicken, turkey and fish, steamed whole grains, steamed vegetables and soups. Please inquire whether this option might be right for you.

FAQs

How long can I receive service? You can recieve meals for up to 24 weeks. 
Who do I contact if I want to change something?You can contact the Client Team with any issues at 707-829-5833 x210.
How and when do I get my food?We deliver a bag of prepared meals once a week. The Client Team will let you know when to expect delivery and it will be on the same day and time each week. Our volunteer Delivery Angels will bring the food to your home.
How can I learn more about the food you prepare?We follow rigorous nutrition standards set by leading health professionals. Our ingredients follow our food philosophy. All ingredients are organic because it's healthiest for you, the farmer who grows the food, our ecosystems and the planet. How can people support Ceres Community Project?If it’s comfortable for you, please let your friends and family know about the support you are receiving from Ceres, and encourage them to make donations to support our work. We rely primarily on individual donations for the work that we do. All donations made to Ceres are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Checks can be made out to Ceres Community Project, and mailed to PO Box 1562, Sebastopol CA 95473. Donations can also be made through our website.
