Mission & Values

Our Vision

A healthy, just, caring and sustainable world.

Mission Statement

We create health for people, communities and the planet through love, healing food and empowering the next generation.

Key Facets of Our Approach Include…

  • Supporting individuals dealing with serious illness with free or low-cost, nutrient-rich prepared meals, made with love and delivered to their homes by our caring volunteers.

  • Empowering young people as volunteer gardeners and chefs, giving them direct, hands-on experience of the difference that fresh, healthy foods and community make, and of the difference they can make.

  • Educating the broader community about the connections between our food choices and the health of individuals, community and the planet.

  • Partnering with healthcare providers and insurers to demonstrate the impact of medically-tailored meals and make access to these meals a routine part of healthcare.

Our Values

Heart Centered & Love Guided

We are committed to expressing love, trust, respect and integrity in our lives, work and organization.

Food is Medicine

We celebrate, provide, and advocate for food that contributes to health for the people who eat it, the people who produce it, and for the planet. Access to healthy, affordable food is a human right and essential to preventing, managing, and treating chronic disease.

Young People are the Future

Young People are intelligent, responsible, capable, creative and caring, and must be central participants in shaping our collective future.

Everything Matters

Nothing is left out. We work to have every action and choice lead to the greatest positive impact.

Equitable, Diverse & Inclusive

We commit to championing policies and practices of social equity that build a diverse, inclusive, and healthy workplace and food system

Who is Ceres?

Ceres is the name of a Roman goddess who represents agriculture, grains, and the idea of nourishment. Similar to Demeter in Greek mythology, Ceres also represents the cycles of fertility when the fields become fallow in the winter and new growth comes forth in the Spring.
